IMarEST Accreditation For Fugro GEOS Graduate Programme

The innovative Graduate Training Programme, established by Fugro GEOS has been accredited by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). The programme aims to provide graduates with a blend of learning; e-learning, classroom learning and workshop training; to ensure they develop the competencies they require for their job and also to ensure their wider professional needs are met.

"Our Initial Professional Development (IPD) programme - the first of its kind in the metocean industry - addresses the needs of graduates by facilitating internal technical expertise to develop graduates' ability, complemented by external parties providing soft skills training" explains Divisional Director, Mark Calverley,
who is leading the Programme.

"We have received notification from IMarEST that the programme met the IPD requirements in full for registration as a Chartered Scientist and Chartered Marine Scientist for a period of five years up to 31 October 2014. Most of our senior staff members already hold Chartered Marine Scientist status; accreditation of our IPD programme means that many more graduates working within our organisation will be able to look forward to following in their footsteps.

"We were particularly pleased with the progress and results and identified two areas of excellence," explained Ben Saunders, Education and Training Manager from the IMarEST Professional Affairs and Education Committee. "The panel was impressed with the enthusiasm displayed by both the Graduates and Mentors on the programme; as well as by the company's ethos regarding professional registration."

"We are gratified by this very positive feedback and look forward to many successful years of working with graduates in the company to help them achieve their full potential." concluded Mark Calverley.

The Fugro GEOS Graduate Programme is offered through the Fugro academy, an initiative that provides a framework for structured training and career development across the entire Fugro Group. It uses a combination of mechanisms, such as : face-to-face, online tutoring and distance learning to encourage and assist employees to further develop their careers.
