Multiple colour optical sensor for algae and underwater particle detection
- Measures transmittance for 3 wavelengths
- Smooth shape to prevent marine growth
- User friendly re-calibration
- Easy maintenance
- Titanium container
Effective management of the marine environment requires rapid alarms and continuous monitoring of the water quality.
OPTISENS is an electronic optical sensor with no moving parts specially developed to measure light transmittance for different wavelengths in water. The sensor is based on the principle that particle and organic matter have different light transmittance with respect to wavelength.
The wavelengths of the light beams are chosen to give the highest possible detection of light absorbing components in the sea; micro organisms, bacteria, yellow substance and suspended particles.
OPTISENS can identify the development of algal blooms and the spread of particle pollutants that pose a threat to the management and commercial exploitation of the marine environment.
The sensor can be mounted on marine structures, moorings, buoys or used as a profiling instrument.
- Accurate and stable against shocks, temperature and pressure
- Standard interface RS232
- Low power consumption
- Titanium container guarantees mechanical strength and non-corrosion
- Excellent performance for characterization of water optical properties, including detection of phytoplankton cells.
